It’s nearly 4pm here in the North West of England… it’s been raining since late morning.
And I love it.
Over the past few days we’ve had blistering weather… at least upper 20 or lower 30 degrees centigrade.
I know, for most hot countries that’s pretty cool, but for us it’s HOT!
We had to keeps the fans on all night.
The rain is a welcome relief with all the windows open and the air feeling a lot fresher.
Beautiful.
Onto the headline.
That came from an email I received from Matt Furey a few days ago and I thought it’s just pure genius.
What makes it even better for me is that I think like this all the time — not swearing, but switching words round — but it never occured to me to use it in my writing.
That’s one of the reasons I like old Matty’s emails… they’re full of common sense nuggets.
Another thing I’ve learned from him is that you CAN take ideas from other sources and sell them.
It’s easy.
D’you know why it’s easy?
Because people buy them.
Remember, you may have seen something for donkey’s years and think nothing of it, but it’s most likely to be completely new to the majority of people.
Let’s face it, there’s a few billion people floating around and not all of them get to see everything you do.
Here’s an example, Matt sells a book and makes six figures a year from it.
The funny thing is, this book is available on the internet for nothing.
Look, I’m not disclosing this here to expose anyone, because the fact is Matt Furey isn’t the only guy who does this.
And people know it.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the people buying the book already know it’s freely available.
There’s two reasons why they still buy it, in my opinion.
- They want a hard copy to keep on their shelves coz it looks good.
- Have you seen Matt’s sales copy?
That’s right, if you have the right chops and can write persuasive copy, you can sell ice to eskimos… so I’ve heard.
And that’s all there is to it.
To see more of Matt’s work and his style of writing visit his blog here Matt Furey.
One word of warning, Matt tells it like he sees it which means you learn more from him as he doesn’t hold back.
And don’t worry that his is a fitness blog because he really is a master marketer.

It was in 2001 when I bought my first product from Matt Furey – It was a three video set called ‘combat conditioning’.
I remember thinking I’d paid a small fortune for what amounted to nothing.
At first.
Then I re-thought and realised that, however simple the exercises were, they were ones I would not have thought to use.
And, the truth is, they are pretty fantastic exercises – ones I utilised to full effect over the next few years.
However, the exercises or the product isn’t what I want to talk to you about.
What I want to talk about today is about Matt Furey, not the exercise guru or wrestling champ… rather Matt Furey the marketer.
Here is one guy I rate among the top in the world, that I’m personally aware of.
I remember, shortly after I’d bought those videos (yes they were videos, not DVDs, at the time) Matt decided to do a special offer.
Anyone who bought those same videos would receive a free copy of his ‘Martial art of wrestling’ book.
As you can imagine I wasn’t too pleased.
So, I shot off an email to Matt saying I was a little disappointed I’d just missed out.
He sent an email back to me (yes, in those days he was answering his own emails) saying he’d get the book off to me… simple as that.
I was happy.
That was, while a simple act, great marketing.
Now, eight years later, I still remember that and I still associate good service with Matt Furey.
Of course, Matt has advanced in leaps and bounds since then and has others answering his emails, etc…
And he’s charging anything from $10,000 per day for training, whether it’s physical training or marketing…
And he’s widely recognised as the best email marketer there is (and I find it very difficult to disagree).
(I even keep each and every one of his emails – they’re an education in themselves.)
And recently Matt made a short series of videos promoting a new course he’s running (I believe it’s now sold out), but I would highly advise you to hold onto those videos just for the education they provide.
