"Why Marketing Matters"

by rezbi on July 12, 2009

When I first started my business, I committed the cardinal sin of business start-up, I tried to cut corners on my marketing. After spending night after night trying to design my own marketing strategy, I thought my brain-child would open doors that no marketing guru could unlock. Little did I know that two months into my business starting up, I had little or no response. I didnt even have a clue about what market I was targeting.

Having then gone three months and several thousands of pounds into my life-savings for survival, I came across these guys on a website. I dropped them a mail about my business. A polite gentleman called me the following morning. No pushy sales or anything of the sort, he pointed to all the pivotal areas of the business which I clearly did not highlight. And without preaching to me, he simply gave me a summary of the things which I had to re-evaluate.

Simple things like branding, website keywords, and most of all, the need to get the message across without all the frills. I felt as though the representative was my own PA. Someone who appeared to have a wonderful insight of the runnings of my business.

Over the next few weeks, I had a number of meetings with DDM. They had a dedicated representative to hold my hand through the tough period. Now I regularly receive inquiries from business from down south right through to Scotland. I even had a guy called me from Jersey a while back. I can’t recommend these guys enough. Whether or not you talk to these guys, I cannot emphasise enough the need to have a structured marketing strategy designed by seasoned professionals.
